Introduction

We all know what it feels like to belong somewhere – to be included – and naturally, we want our organization’s team members to feel the same way. Building an inclusive team pays off handsomely for companies by attracting and retaining the most talented and diverse employees.

In today’s business world, diversification and inclusion have evolved into crucial elements as diverse talent has become increasingly desirable. Organizations enjoy improved employer reputations when diversity and inclusion are incorporated into their culture. A diverse workforce comprises people from different countries, religions, and cultures that encompass other crucial factors such as personality, education, interests, and hobbies. Respecting and celebrating workforce differences is a step toward building a diverse yet united team.

Celebrating Diversity

As diverse workforces lead to happier and healthier employees, At Akaike, we strive to bring together 50+ employees from different cultures. Different values, norms, and behaviors are considered part of our “way of being” at the company.

We all come from different walks of life and speak different languages, as a diverse team. Understanding the need to communicate effectively across many cultural backgrounds, yet sometimes takes time. Regardless of the different languages we speak, we must keep our common goals at the forefront of our conversations while also realizing our differences and learning from one another. For us, it becomes easier to connect with a larger client base and provide them with more solutions when we have a team that has a wide range of perspectives and linguistic skills. Our team imbibes new talents & abilities from each other and experiences new outlooks to satisfy the hunger for learning.

Embracing The Talent Foundry

An infinite number of factors define diversity. Individuals are shaped by their experiences and education throughout their lives. Diversification and evolution of the community result from these experiences that enable people to connect and learn from one another. Human beings naturally enjoy learning new things and moving forward in their lives.

To champion the culture of collaboration and ownership, Akaike shares both individual and team “shout-outs” in company meetings. We seek talent from diverse backgrounds with which work becomes more interesting for everyone. The ability to encourage and embrace these skill sets in an organization is crucial no matter what level of expertise colleagues already possess or are showcasing for the first time. Our diverse employee’s talents range from coding to dancing, music to sports.

Painting, art, and photography allow humans to express their dreams, emotions, and fears. Kartik M Prakash excels as an artist, photographer, and illustrator. In his work, he explores a variety of subjects, media, and styles. Our team members have exemplary skills in dance and music. Together, music and dance create an emotional quotient, always complementing each other. Shivam Srivastava excels at playing the flute, while Utcarsh Agrawal excels at playing the piano. Utcarsh is trained in Indian classical music and Western music. While dancing is the most natural outcome of music, Sridevi Aras is an expert at performing Kathak and Bharatnatyam. Coding is one of our team’s strengths. It is a valuable talent for showing off ideas in technological companies and beyond. In today’s fast-paced world, there is an overwhelming desire to succeed. There is a constant effort on the part of employers to ensure their employees are not burned out and can perform at their best. One of the ways to ensure good health and employee productivity is to focus on sports and fitness alongside work. Our office promotes the culture of sports, and we have a team that enjoys sports and outdoor activities. Shivam Srivastava, Kunal Vaidya, Gaurav Jain, Maharshi Yeluri, Mahesh M, Ketan Vaidya, and Vishnu Raveendran excel in many sports including cricket and badminton.

Expanding our skills and talents makes us smarter, more connected, and better at building relationships – “all the key components of success in today’s workplace.”

A Place For Everyone

Embracing our diverse richness, we also go beyond where our team members volunteer and participate in activities. Beyond having lunch together, our team members occasionally volunteer to cook sometimes. It gives us a chance to learn new things about one another, try new recipes and have fun together. Does your team do everything it can to keep diversity and inclusion in mind, or could it do better? We’d love to hear from you.

Even though we are all diverse, we have one common goal at Akaike i.e. to create a happy workplace and culture that will directly impact our employees and customers.
